Symbolic ceremony in Umbria, Italy (5)

If you don’t want to worry about completing documents for a civil or religious ceremony but still wish to have a romantic Italian ceremony this is the perfect choice.

A symbolic blessing is a very personal wedding ceremony which may be celebrated in the most amazing settings such as the outside garden of an Umbrian villa, a medieval courtyard,  under olive trees, in an Umbrian vineyard, within a beautiful Italian garden or wherever you like and it can follow traditional or non-traditional lines.

The ceremony is held by a celebrant who is not related to a religious structure as it’s purely symbolic and most of the time it’s the couple who writes their own text as you have the freedom to personalize the ceremony so that it reflects totally your beliefs and values; the ceremony could also be performed by a family member and it can include personal vows, poetry, songs, pagan or religious rituals.

The symbolic ceremony can be personalized as you wish, but this is the structure most couples use:

  • The entrance of the groom and family with music
  • The entrance of the bride with music
  • The celebrant welcomes the couple, their family and guests
  • The celebrant reads the ceremony written by the spouses
  • Readings of family members and/or friends
  • Exchange of the wedding vows
  • Kissing of the bride
  • Readings of family members and/or friends
  • Farewell of celebrant to the spouses and guests
  • Exit of the married couple – with music

Italian weddings with baby’s breath are back in fashion!

Tuesday, December 3rd, 2013

Baby’s Breath (or Gypsophila) is back in fashion and can be used in many ways for your wedding decorations.

I personally prefer to use it on its own, it gives a more contemporary and look, as it has been used a lot as a filler in the past, but if its coordinated with the proper flowers it’s also nice mixed together.

So why not use Baby’s breath for your wedding in Umbria?

Two useful notes: it’s not called Baby’s Breath because of its delicate form, but more because of its odour…and it’s not so inexpensive as many think, as you need large quantities of flowers…

Fiat 500 for your wedding in Umbria to be remembered!

Monday, December 2nd, 2013

Hire a beautiful Fiat 500 on your Wedding Day in Umbria to be remembered in style!

The Fiat 500, commonly known as “Topolino” (Mickey Mouse) is an Italian automobile model manufactured by Fiat  from 1936 to 1955 and became the smallest car in the world that was mass produced.

Its round shape broke the tradition of classical squared cars and became an Italian icon all over the world.

Top Gear magazine defined it “The sexiest car in the World”!

Since you are getting married in Italy what’s more original then driving an old FIAT 500 on your wedding day?

For those that are on a budget, a great alternative is to rent the new 2007 Fiat 500, as you could use it for your entire stay to travel around Umbria and also on your wedding day with some nice ribbons and or flowers.

Wedding cardbox tips

Friday, November 22nd, 2013

One small detail that many couples overlook is the card box. That little vessel that’s going to hold all of your wedding cards does not have to be a simple white box.

There are so many unique and fun alternatives that can speak more about your personalities and your wedding theme.

Depending on the style of your wedding,  it could be a birdcage, an old suitcase or a hat box for a vintage themed wedding, a wooden wine box holder for a wine themed wedding, a wicker basket, a wooden box with your initials carved on it, large mason jars decorated with flowers for a country wedding, if you love to travel you could have a globe card holder…….

…………….no matter the style of the box, the wedding and your personality, be sure to provide one as guest feel more comfortable about leaving their card!!

Vintage wedding in Assisi

Wednesday, November 6th, 2013

This is a small preview of the photo gallery of Kelly and Patrick’s vintage themed wedding in Assisi, a beautiful Medieval town in Umbria.

Kelly and Patrick got married with a Civil ceremony at the “Sala della Conciliazione” Town Hall,  in the main square of Assisi. After the civil wedding they had pictures and drinks in Assisi in front of the fountain, the Saint Francis church, small streets….

The wedding party then went back to a beautiful country hotel decorated with vintage bird cages, roses, ivy, hearts and lots of candles where they had drinks, dinner and dancing till late…

Umbrian Cheese Wedding Cake

Umbrian-cheese-wedding-cake

If you love cheese more than a traditional fruit or chocolate cake, why not have a cheese wedding cake at your wedding in Umbria and make a visual statement with your cheese course?

You can cut the cake at the beginning of the reception when you are having the aperitifs, so that the cheese can be served on the buffet of starters.

The cheese wedding cake can be decorated with fruit and flowers and it will be nothing less than a traditional wedding cake!

Umbria has many excellent cheeses to choose from, as pecorino cheese, caciotta, wine flavored cheese, truffle cheese and many more….

Candles: a must at your wedding reception

Wedding reception in Umbria with candle light (6) Wedding reception in Umbria with candle light (3) Wedding reception in Umbria with candle light (2) Wedding reception in Umbria with candle light (5)

Candle light is perfect for an evening or night time wedding, you don’t necessarily have to have flowers, even if I suggest to have some, but you really need candle light. It adds a lovely glow and sets an intimate and romantic tone.

Candlelight will also give that wow factor when guests enter the room.

Line your entrance path with candles or paper bags, hang candles in vases from trees, mix them with your flower arrangements or use just candles as centerpieces, put floating candles in the pool, use them to underline the architecture of a building or line them on steps and pathways to invite guests into certain areas.

Be sure to ask  the venue if they allow candles inside and outside and if there are any restrictions.

If you have an outdoor wedding, be sure to have candleholders that are taller than your candles, as these might blow out with the wind otherwise and it also prevents any possible fires.

Have a look at some candles and floral inspiration at some past weddings and some other ideas on my pinterest board.

Who among us has not dreamed of becoming the Queen or King of a castle for one day?

Umbrian castles can recreate the perfect location for any type of wedding reception you have in mind, ensuring memorable photographs in private corners between the walls lit by the fire for traditional weddings.

A wedding in an Umbrian castle can be ideal for a Medieval themed wedding, with guests and waiters in period costumes.

If you like to give your wedding in a castle a more modern twist, the choice of two dominant colors, such as white and black, could provide the starting point for many details of your wedding, such as themed décor, flowers, candles, menu’s, wedding favors etc..

For any setting you want to recreate, it is necessary to study in detail decorations, lighting, flowers, music, menus, wedding cake to create a high-impact wedding reception.

We at Italian Wedding Dream can help you achieve your dream wedding in an Umbrian Castle!
