Perugia

UMBRIA’S CAPITAL, NOTABLE ARTISTIC CENTRE OF ITALY WHICH HOSTS ONE OF EUROPE’S LARGEST JAZZ FESTIVALS.

Perugia is an ancient hilltop town that has preserved its wonderful medieval character in the historic center; from many beautiful spots you can enjoy spectacular panoramic views of the surrounding countryside.

Perugia is also lively and cosmopolitan, life hinges on Corso Vannucci, the main street in the historic center, a broad pedestrian thoroughfare constantly buzzing with action.

Every year, since 1973, the most important Jazz festival in the world takes place, the Umbria Jazz Festival, usually held in the month of July: for ten days, from morning until late at night, there is music non-stop in some of the most beautiful settings of old Perugia.

The city’s Etruscan walls, medieval churches, renaissance and baroque palaces still witness the splendor of the past.

Piazza IV Novembre, backed by the Duomo, is the artistic city center, here we find the Fontana Maggiore, with beautiful reliefs carved in the 13th century, the gothic cathedral, and one of the most stunning Italian medieval palaces, the ”Palazzo dei Priori” which was the official town hall for years.

Civil weddings are now held in a superb palazzo right on the piazza IV Novembre, the palazzo has frescoed walls and is one of the finest wedding halls in Umbria.

If you decide to have a catholic wedding, there are a lot of options, the Temple of Sant’Angelo is a very suggestive one, being one of the oldests churches in Italy, but you need to book well in advance.

Being the Capital of Umbria, there are really endless options for the reception, ancient palaces, suggestive restaurants in the center or in the nearby countryside, spectacular villas….
